Influence Map

Felt like posting my influences, simply because I rarely give credit to those that inspire me. I could've made a much bigger influence map than this, however these are probably the most important ones...ranging from big to small, of course.

1 - [link] I have been watching this artist for a while now simply for the pencil shading and dynamic expressions and poses. Another artist akin to this would be *yooani

2 - Hellboy - Mignola's comics. Simply a huge inspiration for my comic style. Whereas this influence goes way back, it isn't the biggest influence on me, but probably the oldest.

3 - Nedroid. Big influence on my cartoony side. I love the way the artist draws his female characters while keeping the heroes relatively simple.

4 - [link] Kidchan has always made amazing works, featuring nice colors, textures, and a deepness to them I have not found in many other artists. However, I want this also to represent the influence of Sci-fi romance. It is very large in my influences.

5 - Nelson Boles. Probably my favorite student animator, he has a style I love to watch. It's constantly changing and getting more and more dynamic. His work has influenced my animation style without a doubt, as well as doing vector animation without linearts. Another artist using that style as well as influencing me the same way would be Pascal Campion.

6 - [link] This is easily the artist that has influenced me the most out of anyone. ~iumazark has simply swept me off my feet and helped me to cope with not having the most perfect proportions in my drawings or the most cute, mainstream, sexy look to my characters. Without this influence I would still be trying to mimic the famous anime artists I see all over DA. Please, check out this artist's work!

7 - [link] While Maximo has helped me develop into a comic artist by talking with me over the years, his biggest influence on me has simply been his character Crazybee. I followed this character on The Void for almost seven years now and has always been a source of inspiration for developing my own characters.

8 - [link] Raven. Probably my favorite cartoon character of all time, I would never have started drawing girls if it was not for her. When Teen Titans first aired back in 2002? 2003? It was mainly her that kept me watching. The darkness, the color scheme, I loved it and still do.

9 - The Fountain. This movie has influenced nearly everything I do. It was life changing. I watched it twice in the theatres when it came out in 2006 and I have been forever changed. After getting the DVD, OST, and my brother getting the Blu-Ray, I relive the film more than twice a year since. The deepest, most romantic story coupled with chilling atmospheric images of outer space brings me an endless chasm of emotions for me. Watch it, if you haven't. It's my favorite movie of all time.

10 - Last but not least, Eureka seveN. Heck, I wouldn't be an animator today nor would I have drawn any anime art if it wasn't for this epic love story. Like The Fountain, it has forever changed me for the good. I really don't know what to say about it other than it gets beneath the skin for me. It's personal and I've made many friends and created many artworks and stories because of it.

So there you have it. My influence map at its core. I could branch this out farther but that would take forever and it would make the mystery solved...I hope you enjoyed it.
